planned  ·  MichaelAdminMichael (Admin, Path Finder) responded

This feature is likely to be perpetually “planned” as the Finder is so deeply embedded into the operating system.

To remove the Finder icon from the dock and application switcher:
      1. Path Finder > Finder > Enable Finder’s “Remove from Dock”
      2. Right-click on the Finder dock icon and select “Remove from Dock.” This works even while the Finder is running, allowing it to run silently in the background.

The dock’s trash can is hard-coded to use the Finder, so there’s nothing we can do about it.

around 3 month ago i tried pathfinder as a complete replacement for finder and was very happy except the lousy way pathfinder handles the icons on the desktop (Case 3854). OSX is so much better than windows but its icon handling features are absolutely awkward. every windos box can specify the space between icons horiz. and vertical indepenently, the icon size and of course: icons will automatically allign to hat grid. my experience was that icons will be stacked over another, the grid is very inflexible (changes iconsize also) ... its like a timetravel to windows95 ...
i'm waiting every day to hear about this is fixed in pathfinder because then i will instantly replace Finder as my desktop.

i have 2 Mac's, an iPhone, an iPodTouch and a lot of apps i would like to sync their data.
So YES, i would love to sync a set of files/directories between those systems (including a mounted iPhone/Touch). It would be good enough, if pathfinder could detect, which files are different and let me decide, which one will be replaced, removed or untouched. Before switching from windows to osx, i loved syncSE from 2BrightSparks which is 100% what i need: fast, flexible, profiles, test-run, logging ... i'm missing it on osx so much !!!

It would also be great what Jose mentioned: compare two windows, show me which files have different content (just use hash calculation) and give us the choice to copy missing or newer files or make both dirs identical.
