Let us know your thoughts on Lion’s full-screen apps: Do you feel that a full-screen Path Finder window that exists in its own Space would fulfill this request? Please share your ideas in the comments.

Whilst full-screen mode (in a separate space) would be useful I am unsure (not having Lion) whether it would provide all the same benefits as a desktop (e.g. is it easy to drag and drop files from one screen onto another, as one can do from the desktop onto an app or open/save dialog).
The original motivation for my suggesting this feature was to move beyond the traditional desktop, which has become somewhat unmanageable for me with many folders and items, and having to display it on many different sized monitors (home, work, laptop only).
It would perhaps be a good first step though, so please give it a go. The only issue I see really is the current use of "draws" (on the sides and bottom of Path Finder). But I am not up to date with how these may be changing in Lion or Path Finder any way.

I find I need this more and more now as I used multiple monitors (of different resolution) with my laptop. My desktop is full of folders and they all get shuffled around (even though I use SwitchResX's save desktop feature).
With PathFinders as a desktop I could use all the features of a PathFinder window to keep my "new" desktop organised (from the tabbed folders, to menubar items, and, of course, using a column or list view rather than just the icon view of other desktops).
I think it would (eventually) require some small modifications to the look of the PathFinder window (in this mode) so it doesn't look like a Window with draws etc, but just a partitioned / structured and functional(!) desktop.

Now I have Lion I support a fullscreen view but still request a "PathFinder as Desktop" mode. More and more I have trouble with folders on my desktop when I move from laptop to laptop with display and then to another config. Folders get rearranged. With PaD I could use all of the features of PathFinder to manage my view of the filesystem and important folders. When moving to a different display config, I would just get shorter lists etc. It shouldn't be too hard to pin a window to the desktop should it? Thanks for considering. Ashley.
