It may be possible for us to implement folder merging on Lion since this appears to have been added to OS X’s file copy API.

Adding my support for including folder contents merge capability to Path Finder.
Sad but true that I enjoy doing file management more on my Windows PC (with various tools) than on the Mac Finder. Ability of Windows to merge folder contents non-destructively, and to show size and date of potential conflicts is much better than Apple method of blind overwrites with no user details.
Thank you.

I add my voice to the request list to compare and display file size and date information (besides file name) to the user in file and folder management operations.
That is, if I am about to overwrite same-named files, please show me the details!
Do not act like the Mac Finder which just states/asks if I wish to overwrite something - but fails to help by providing any detail at all.
When this happens in Finder, I have to stop, display both windows, visually compare lists, then copy or move files one-by-one so that I get desired results without accidentally destroying files. It's a real pain and one of the lamest aspects of Apple Mac Finder file management. (should be perhaps called file non-management... ;) )
Thank you.
