Show PathFinder's desktop with Exposé/Expose
There are three entries in this data base that touch this issue: "Provide a PathFinder as desktop mode", "Fully replace the Finder" and "Two must have functions". If you (like me) think that solving this problem would be a first big step to replace finder, than vote for this seperated issue!
This is somewhat experimental, but it’s working so far:
Cick on Path Finder’s desktop, then choose View > Show View Options. Click on Set Colors and mark “Use the Finder’s desktop window level”.

Is this still the best advice/solution?
This seems to work and be required in Lion as well. I don't remember having this problem in Snow Leopard....

In Snow Leopard we should be able to pin Path Finder's desktop in place, even when using Exposé's "show desktop" function
