Automatically resize columns
Have columns automatically resize if not wide enough & set parameters as to not resize over x length and not to resize under x length.
This has been added to Path Finder 6. Select View > Show View Options, then enable “auto resize columns”

Never mind. I see that it IS available for list view; however, it MUST BE ACTIVATED while in column view, and once done, it applies to the list view as well. It's just that the check box for activating the feature APPEARS only in the column view options.

Yes, I agree, this feature SHOULD ALSO BE AVAILABLE AS A SETTING IN LIST VIEW, but it isn't. Unless, I'm missing something, that is the case, right?

Does this not apply to "List" view? If I switch to "Column" view, I see the option. I'm not sure why this feature isn't also enabled for "List" view… it could be made to apply to the first (usually "Name") column only, right?

Awesome news. I though, since this was not closed until yesterday, the feature hadn't made it into version 6. You proove that wrong. Good job and I think this is a very important feature. Thanks so much for including it. :)

Thanks so much Michael!
I just purchased a licence as promised.
I will now be recommending PathFinder to all the Mac users I know.

Thank you. Great feature.
As I use PF6, I'm liking it more and more, especially since the initial "first date" feeling is gone.
Getting use to the new logo. When I jump to the App Switcher I'm still look for the PF old logo. Some habits just don't die so easily.

@SystemTrouble
Main menu "View > Show View Options" (or press cmd+j) while in column view and look for the "Auto resize columns" checkbox.

Still missing in PathFinder 6 :(

it is so so annoying that Pathfinder STILL cannot somehow present sensibly NARROW column widths. PLUS i hate the way PF automatically seems to scroll columns to the left, when the main window is too narrow forcing me to waste time making the columns appear.

+1 million for this feature. I just spend 10 minutes trying to find it. Path Finder is so feature rich so i was surprised when I realised the feature was yet to be loved by everyone here.
Thanks in advance, You guys are doing great :)

Been waiting for this veeeery long as well. So logical to have it, yet neither PathFinder nor Mac OS have this. Strange world?

Yes please! Hugely annoying in Finder, would be a fantastic option in Path Finder.

Adding my support to this as well. This is THE killer feature for any user that works with lots of files and does manual folder organization - mainly creative professionals like photographers, video editors, VFX artists, etc. I spend my entire day in a column-view Pathfinder window and nothing bugs me more than browsing into a new directory and having the new column take up half my screen.

Automatic smart resize like native OS X green button?
I'm ok with this :) -

Additional feature: let Pathfinder remember the manually resized column width for each folder!
