I suggest you ...

Add dual-pane mirroring, swapping, and keyboard shortcuts

1. Copy source pane path to destination pane path: click a button (or use a keyboard shortcut) on one pane to update the path on the other path to be the same.

2. Switch source and destination pane paths: click a button (or use a keyboard shortcut) to make the path on the left and right panes switch.

3. Switch focus between left and right panes using the keyboard, e.g. Tab key - this is crucial! Apologies if it is actually there and I've missed it.

3 1/2 - Open new file browser in dual pane view by default - have a setting in preferences to enforce this setting.

Directory Opus (Windows) has a perfect implementation of this (simple little buttons)

If you do a keyboard shortcut please combine it with *much clearer* indication of which pane has focus or the "Set other pane to this" would be extra extra annoying!

All of these features are of paramount importance to users who have recently switched to Mac from Windows. They are searching for a substitute of the almighty Total Commander but unfortunately none of the Mac file managers offers functionality that is provided by Total Commander.

I'm one of these users and I've been searching for a decent file manager for quite a long time. I've tried all of the available managers and Path Finder seems to be the best one so far. The only thing that prevents me from buying a copy is the absence of these features. And not only me! Hundreds of ex-Win users that are seeking for a powerful file manager that offers features which they have been using for years during their "Win life" would be happy to buy a copy Path Finder, believe me!

I miss feature 1 a lot while using the dual pane view. This feature could be implemented with a simple context menu option: "Open in the right pane", if you right-click over a folder in the the left pane, and vice versa.

I agree with this too... but if/when it gets implemented, I hope they are able to do it without adding more "buttons" to the UX.

I am voting for this because of #3. If there is no way to switch between the panes with the keyboard, then this feature is useless to me. Also, there needs to be a way to switch between the panes and the bottom drop-down drawer for the terminal.

I would add that it'd be nice to support the somewhat standard F# button keys that Norton Commander / Total Commander / Midnight Commander use while in dual-pane mode. I.e. F5 to copy from the current pane to the other pane, F6 to move, F8 to delete, etc.

Or, to expand the available keyboard shortcut choices to include assigning keys to such functions when in two-pane mode.
