do not load icons over slow network connection
when connecting to an SMB share via a VPN connection, opening a folder becomes terribly slow (even on a dsl link!). I guess the reason is that pathfinder loads the icons for all the displayed files (infact reading all those files).
It is terribly slow that way. Infact, it is much faster to open a rdp (terminal) session via the same VPN connection and browse the files inside the RDP connection. Isnt that weird!?
So, my wish is that you implement some kind of "speed sensing", i.e. if the icons for the first 10 files take more than 5 seconds to load, skip loading icons at all and just display some neutral dummy file icons.

probably i was too stupid to switch off the coverflow view.
perhaps I am not the only one being stupid, if in a hurry — so, in case of slow connections, I suggest to have coverflow turning somehow "shaded" and inactive, and only become active again if user clicks somewhere inside the coverflow area.
