    Make the path navigator text-editable

PF shows the current path in the path navigator with each segment as buttons so you can jump to a directory in the path. What I'd like to see is more of a "URL bar". Basically allowing a "Go to folder" feature. I like how Vista's Explorer has implemented this: it shows the buttons like PF does, but if you click on an special icon the bar turns into a text-field where you can type the path specifically.

    More flexible sidebar/drawers

    1. The option to be able to add more than 2 shelves per drawer. 2. Allow the Drop Stack and Trash to be placed anywhere on the Sidebar or Drawer. 3. Ability to 'group' items in a shelf, so similar items can be put under a group heading. (suggestion 1 may solve this). 4. Styling for Shelf headers - instead of grey bar, option for Leopard Finder 'Places' style headers.

extend SVN Support to a full featured Client in Pathfinder

the idea of supporting SVN is great, a good client for Mac OS is missing. I really would appreciate to have a Pathfinder that covers SVN-Browsing in the same Quality as Browsing in the Filesystem. Just like Subclipse does the Job in Eclipse an full featured SVN-Pathfinder would be great!

    Queued files copies

When you launch 2 big files copies (File Copy A, then File copy B), the finder and pathfinder do both file copies at the same time. This is utterly inefficient as the HD head constantly move from file A to File B back and forth to copy a bit of A, then a bit of B. A much more efficient way is to queue the file copy, so the computer copies A, then B at full speed because HD Head moves a lot less. Connectix's disckcopy did that in Mac OS 9 days. It's even worse with copies from network and CD/DVD copies. Somme refinements : ability to pause and reorder the queue or relaunched a paused copy. Automatic reordering of the queue to start to do the small copies first to maximize the number of user demands in the minimum time. That feature would justify Pathfinder use by itself

Allow windows to be merged as tabs of 1 window

Have a way of merging separate windows as different tabs of a single window. (Maybe also have a way of splitting tabs into separate windows.) Would make it possible to make greater use of drop stack.

Add 'Recently Closed Tabs' (like Firefox)

Or, alternately, the ability to 'undo' an accidental closing of a tab.

Show if a folder is a shared folder

The finder displays a "SHARED" info at the top of a folder if this folder is a shared folder. You can share a folder in system preferences and sometimes I forget to disable this sharing. So I find it quite useful to see this information.

    Paste Windows path

Pathfinder can copy a path to a server folder in "Windows" style to send to someone else running Windows: \\ourserver\thatdirectory\otherdirectory\thirddirectory\ If someone sends me a similar "Windows" path, pasting into Pathfinder and going there would sure be great!

Use coverflow option on items list of current folder

Leopard currently has a coverflow option as a view option of the current folder in a Finder Window. It would be super great if Pathfinder had this option.

Remove the horizontal scrollbar when unneeded

Column view currently shows a blank scrollbar on the bottom of a window, even when there are only a few columns currently open. It's ugly and unnecessary, and should be removed.

vertical tab (horizontal text) will allow more tabs

in addition to the 2 tabbing views (horizontal with horizontal text and vertical with vertical text), having the option to a vertical tab WITH HORIZONTAL TEXT (ie same layout as the shelf). This will allow much more tabs to be visible, without wasting space

Display the volume and shelf header bars like finder does

I would like an option to display the grey bars that act as the headers for the 'volumes' and 'shelf' lists to be removed and rendered like the default leopard finder and iTunes. ie. no grey bars just the name of the 'shelf' in caps and the contents indented.

Support vnc:// in the 'connect to server' implementation

In Finder, using vnc://192.168.2.50 will start up the VNC viewer. PathFinder does not handle this.

Compress the Drop Stack items, preserving their full path

Thanks for a great product. It would be even greater if it was possible to compress the Drop Stack items while keeping the files' full path info. Without that feature I'm constantly finding myself doing the compression in Finder... In fact it would be even better if the root folder of the created archive was the common root of the compressed items - that's how it works in Finder - when you select in Finder files from several folders and then right click them and choose 'compress' it automatically picks up the 'correct' root for the archive (the common prefix of all paths). The drop stack is more powerful than selecting in the browser or Finder because you don't have the problem of loosing the selection when you deal with many files but its current compression method makes it rather useless for me. Add a keyboard shortcut that opens the context menu

Not having a keyboard shortcut for opening the context menu for the currently selected item is a huge shortcoming of OS X (the feature exists for years on Windows). Having it at least in Path Finder would greatly reduce the pain...

mark (select) files via keyboard file

In dual-pane file managers, there is typically a "mark file" keystroke (space-bar for example). You can easily move up and down a list marking an un-marking files, adding to marked files by using a wildcard etc. Finally, once everything is marked, you can perform some operation. Using the mouse and the command-key to do this just does not cut it.

'correct' cifs filenames automatically on copy

I have a new NAS that runs most efficiently on SMB/cifs. While copying a lot of files from my desktop, the copy failed because several of the filenames had windows illegal characters (specificall a "?"). I suggest that PF could detect whether the copy is being made to a cifs server and 'correct' these filenames on the fly, buy changing the illegal character to a unicode or to an unusual character (e.g. q for ?) thanks

Make Path Finder able to open more archive file types

Path Finder and Stuffit Expander both use the Stuffit Engine, so Path Finder should be able to open everything that Stuffit Expander can. But Path Finder doesn't tell Mac OS X that, so Path Finder doesn't quite replace Stuffit Expander. Please make use of Path Finder's latent abilities so that I can remove a redundant application.

Presently, the header of the active shelf shows the word "shelf". I suggest that the header shows the name of the shelf, instead.
